The Physician Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Pediatric Otolaryngologists. The Physician Assistant will play a major role in facilitating consistent application of clinical protocols and continuity of care, utilizing the principles of evidence based practice. The Physician Assistant will work in partnership with Pediatric Otolaryngologists, consultants, nursing and other members of the health care team to provide comprehensive medical assessment, management and education. This role will support the clinical activity of Pediatric Otolaryngologists, the associated patient care and interventions of the Pediatric ENT service. This includes the Pediatric ENT Clinic, and may include the Pediatric Emergency Department, Pediatric Inpatient Units, and Operating. The Physician Assistant will provide a full range of physician assistant services, requesting consultation with appropriate physicians, clinicians, or other health care resources as indicated. The Physician Assistant will order diagnostic tests as applicable, prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.  The Physician Assistant will participate in the education of other health professional trainees as appropriate, as well as research and academic pursuits as directed by the identified Physician Supervisor.

The Registered Nurse (RN) functions as a valuable member of the interdisciplinary team and provides care to children and adolescents with complex mental health and medical issues related to a range of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and eating disorders not otherwise specified. The RN will bring an excellent knowledge, understanding and skills including, but not limited to: mental health and medical status examination, establishment of effective therapeutic relationships, utilization of developmentally appropriate approaches, and implementation and evaluation of various therapeutic interventions. The RN will provide comprehensive care to each patient and family, on the foundation of the RNs competent knowledge of the medical and mental health components of eating disorders, in a family centered care setting. The RN will work in a health care setting that fosters collaboration, recognizes the value of all disciplines and team members, and ensures a culture of self-development and learning to ensure the most appropriate delivery of care to all patients and their families. As a member of the interdisciplinary team of clinicians the RN will attend rounds, participate in leading/ co-leading group activities, communicate with families and caregivers, liaise with community resources as required as well as manage issues related to mental health and patient safety. The RN offers health teaching to patients and families on both the medical and mental health aspects of an eating disorder. The RN brings a strong knowledge of all Ontario legislation that affects the range of considerations including pediatric and adolescent care, Health Care Consent Act, and the Mental Health Act
