As a MRT technologist of an approved site of the Ontario Breast Screening Program, the incumbent performs mammograms within policies and procedures for both the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) and OBSP quality programs. The OBSP mammography technologist accepts the responsibility for client-centered care and for personal effective team functioning amongst peers and other members of the integrated cancer screening offices. Liaises with the Radiologist to ensure the technical quality of images is of the highest quality.

 As a member of a Multidisciplinary Health Care team, co-ordinates, performs and evaluates Diagnostic Services examinations within the specific modalities and disciplines. Guides and directs clinical and technical associates and students in a teaching and research environment and provides patient care within the core values of respect, caring, innovation and accountability. Rotation though other modalities and sites based on qualifications and unit requirements maybe required.

Working closely with other members of the department, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs clinical imaging procedures while maintaining an environment which is patient-focused. Other responsibilities include: ensuring all procedures are performed according to established protocols and standards of practice and in a safe and compliant manner according to CNSC regulations; participating in various training programs and research studies; and contributing to an environment which supports clinical excellence and continuous learning. 

As a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Registered X-Ray Technologist coordinates, performs and evaluates Diagnostic Services examinations, guides and directs clinical and technical associates and students in a teaching and research environment. Our technologists provide patient care within the HHS core values of respect, caring, innovation and accountability. X-Ray Technologists at McMaster Children’s Hospital work with state of the art equipment including Operating Room O-Arm. Our X-Ray Technologists are presented with regular opportunities to train in CT and interventional radiology, as well as participate in McMaster University affiliated research studies. Rotation through other modalities and sites based on qualifications and unit requirements maybe required. 

As a member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, the Registered Ultrasound Technologist (UT) co-ordinates and performs a variety of ultrasound examinations including pediatric and high risk obstetric, and triage examinations as necessary. The UT is responsible for the technical operation, coordination and quality of service for Ultrasound.  Our UTs also liaise with the senior technologists and Radiologists to ensure the technical quality of procedures are performed at a high level. Staff work within the Standards of Practice as outlined by Sonography & the CMRITO.  Our Ultrasound Technologists are set up for success with numerous continuing medical education opportunities provided by McMaster Children’s Hospital Pediatric and Obstetrical physicians with scheduled ongoing rounds that allow all technologists to attend. As well as additional training opportunities in Pediatric MSK ultrasound exams, amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling obstetrical guidance procedures.  Rotation through other modalities and sites based on qualifications and unit requirements may be required.

Our CT team specializes in cardiac, stroke, trauma and neuro and work closely with a variety of interdisciplinary teams such as trauma, stroke, cardiac and the ED.  Rotation through other modalities and sites based on qualifications and unit requirements may be required.

Unit Summary The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated jointly by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Hospital. The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research, to bring the highest quality science into healthcare for the benefit of the community and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science.   Position Summary The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) will be required to rotate between all Hamilton Health Science Core Laboratories (Hamilton General site, Juravinski Hospital site and McMaster University Medical Center site). The MLT provides routine, urgent and stat specimen testing in a fully computerized and highly automated Core Laboratory setting. The Medical Laboratory Technologist will perform a variety of laboratory procedures accurately, efficiently and safely while maintaining quality control and prioritizing workload. In addition to specimen testing the MLT will perform additional tasks as required. These include but are not limited to: teaching, training, method evaluation, technical writing, quality assurance projects and safety projects.   Note:  Posted wage rates are as of April, 2022.  HHS is currently in negotiations to renew our Collective Agreement with OPSEU Local 273.  Any increases to wage rates that may come as a result of negotiations, will be retroactively applied once negotiations are completed, and a new agreement has been finalized Scheduled Work Hours days, nights, evening, weekends, holidays

Under general supervision and direction, the Genetics Medical Laboratory Technologist performs a wide variety of laboratory procedures accurately, efficiently, and safely while maintaining quality control and prioritizing workload. 

Under supervision and direction the Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the proper collection of appropriate specimens for laboratory testing on inpatients and outpatients. The Lab Assistant performs a variety of laboratory tasks, which require learned manual skills rather than a technological training, to assist the trained technologists in various sections within the Department of Laboratory Medicine
