Drill Core Technician (Contract - 6 months)

Closing Date: March 22, 2024 Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Project Geologist, the Drill Core Technician will be responsible for supporting a large and complex mineral deposit development program on site. Duties primarily consist of collecting detailed geotechnical and geological data, and implementing a rigorous QA/QC program, while upholding rigorous safety standards and working as part of a driven geoscience team. The position is focused on a drilling program at Galore Creek, a world-class porphyry copper-gold deposit that is currently being evaluated in a prefeasibility study. Overview This position is based out of the Galore Creek Uhtlān Camp, a remote fly-in camp located in northwestern British Columbia. GCMC will provide travel from Vancouver to Uhtlān Camp. This role is expected to be working on-site on a rotational basis of 14 days on, 14 days off from June until September; work outside of this time may be completed at the Galore Creek office or potentially from home. The successful candidate would have a start date in approximately May 2024. Located in northwestern British Columbia, Galore Creek is one of the world's largest undeveloped porphyry copper-gold-silver deposits. For petroleum engineers, knowledge of basic reservoir engineering concepts including reservoir simulation, analytical performance prediction, and economic metrics. Good fundamental understanding/experiences in fluid mechanics, porous media flow, computational fluid dynamics. Hands on experience using proprietary or vendor engineering analysis tools and software applications appropriate to the corresponding engineering disciplines. Able to work in shift hours. Experience in data science, machine learning will be an added advantage. Mentorship and team leadership experience will be an added advantage. Preferred Qualifications / Experience For petroleum engineers, experience using reservoir (flow) simulation software such as Eclipse, Petrel RE, Intersect, or CMG is required. Experience in computational and/or data science (e.g., computational fluid dynamics, 3D modeling, machine learning, and optimization). Experience in one or more programming languages such as MATLAB/C/Python will be an advantage. Experience working in Tableau and Power BI will be an advantage.
