The technician must diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair breakdowns and/or problems in all areas of processing equipment, high speed packaging lines, facilities, electrical, automation, instrumentation and controls systems. The technician must be independently able to troubleshoot, pin-point problems, remediate all problems and conducts problem solving along with team members to fix reoccurring issues.Responsibilities and Duties: Diagnose, troubleshoots, performs repair and maintenance, and rebuilds on processing equipment, high speed bottling/packaging lines and facilities equipment such as separators, pasteurizers, membranes, control valves, blow molder, filler, sleever, case packer, palletizer, compressor, pumps, AHUs, cooling towers etc. Diagnose and troubleshoot Variable Frequency & Servo Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), sensors, actuators, instruments, industrial network pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, electrical distribution system etc. Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace faulty components in electrical, control, vacuum/pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical systems to ensure reliable and uninterrupted plant operations. Perform effective troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance (PM) or modifications in accordance with manufactures specifications and documentation on processing, bottling/packaging and facilities equipment. Proactively execute cleaning, lubrication, inspection & calibration routines plan for entire plant equipment. Observes and test the plant equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using meters/analyzers, operator stations and other test/monitoring devices; and replace faulty components to keep equipment operational, drives standardization to maintain consistency. Ensures compliance to codes and standards, confined space entry, work at height, Lock-out-tag-out, Line Break Permit, hazardous materials, bench and hand tool safe use, etc. and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Reports preventive and corrective maintenance activities and procedures in maintenance software in accordance to PM plan and department's planification; assess plans with operators, supervisors, managers, OEMs and present initiatives to improve overall equipment performance. Maintain records and ensure inventory is made available for upcoming maintenance and calibration activities, supporting spare parts store setup & management activities. Maintain drawings, instructional manuals, program backups, certificates, procedures and make revisions as needed. The Industrial Mechanic is also responsible for ensuring maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Ensure all work is performed safely, to specifications, instructions, and using best practices.Ensure the operating equipment is thoroughly inspected and perform preventative maintenance on a routine basis.Ensure all safety devices are in place and functional.Apply technical skills to troubleshoot breakdowns and make necessary repairs in a timely manner.Regularly communicate with shift supervisors and machine operators regarding the status of equipment.Install, maintain, repair, service, troubleshoot, and diagnose packaging related equipment.Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools as required.Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and issues and determine which outsourced partners to work with.Record maintenance and repair work performed.Perform routine preventive maintenance under preset maintenance program to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly.Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.Responsible to maintain and sign off on maintenance reports for all equipment.Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools. Requirements:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)5+ years’ experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.Corrugated packaging equipment experience an asset.Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, as well as the use of measurement devices.Experience in welding and fabrication preferred.Able to read and interpret blue prints, plans, and manuals.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to communicate comfortably in both verbal and written correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.Must provide tools for individual use. Working Conditions:High heat and noise levelsOccasional kneeling, reaching above shoulder, working at heights, and climbing stepsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to work in shifts (days, afternoons, nights – rotating weekly)Ability to work occasional overtime or weekends as required for preventative maintenanceWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Working Relationships:Production/ Quality 90%Shipping 5%Scheduling 5% We are committed to equal opportunity employment.
