This includes numerous public entities and Public-Private Partnerships in Canada and abroad. The Asphalt Plant Operator position is located in Balzac, Calgary. Key Responsibilities Operate Astec Double Barrel Asphalt Plant to produce hot mix asphalt. Perform truck loading and ticketing operations. Operate front end loader to feed the asphalt plant. Unload Asphalt Cement Oil from bulker to storage tanks under strict safety procedures Perform routine maintenance on the asphalt plant when required. Practice open 2-way radio communication with the asphalt plant crew to ensure plant is properly maintained and constantly monitored. Ability to perform work in varying weather conditions. Ability to work the project schedule which may include overtime, weekends, and/or night shift. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures. Be responsible for the safe execution of tasks performed by plant employees. Understand, participate in and improve safety program and initiatives as part of the plant crew. Any other duties as required. Required Knowledge and Experience Minimum one year of experience in asphalt plant production, preferably Astec Double Drum plant Proven mechanical aptitude for general plant maintenance, welding, fabrication and basic electrical troubleshooting. Must have a valid Class 5 driver license and own a vehicle. Physical capability to repetitively lift and carry at least 40 lbs on a regular basis. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly. Interpersonal skills with the ability to respond appropriately to the needs and capabilities of others; adjusts approaches to suit different people and situations. Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions for self and others sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment.
