Job Description JOB SUMMARY Serve as the Vac operator / truck driver. Operate trucks over 11,000 kg Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) including attachments, according to the Highway Traffic Act, Public Commercial Vehicle Act (PCVA) and Regional guidelines. Pick up and removes sewage screenings from pumping stations. Clean wet wells, screen rooms, various storm water and combined sewer overflows. Ensure the proper operation, collection and transport of sewage/storm water to their disposal point. Sets up and maintains equipment for cleaning wet wells and sewers. Prepare daily and special reports. Assist the operational staff as directed. Comply with all applicable safety rules and regulations. Assume duties of a Systems Maintenance Assistant I when Vac truck not in use. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Completion of Grade 12 KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE Minimum of 2 to 3 years in a similar environment Must successfully complete Regional Administered Vac Truck Operator Training Must Complete W.H.M.I.S training Must possess a valid class “DZ” Driver’s license Must possess Wastewater Treatment and Collection OITs; Class I Wastewater Collection License preferred SKILLS Must possess basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance. Must be able to work with minimum supervision Confined Space Traffic Control Must possess computer skills SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be clean-shaven at all times. In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate. It is the employee’s responsibility to possess and maintain a valid and restriction-free driver’s license of appropriate class to carry out the duties of the job. Must be physically fit.
