About Us As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. Reporting to the responsible Survey Civil Superintendent, this role will perform survey layout and as built measurements within the DNNP BOP Site Establishment construction scope which includes site boundary and access improvements, grading improvements, soil stabilization activities, Offices, Warehouse, roads, and underground services, and shoring piling and excavation. What is the Opportunity? Perform layout staking of earthworks excavations, roads, utilities, and other site improvements using GNSS and Robotic Total Stations as outlined in survey plan for work front. Conduct Field Hazard assessments and Identify hazards and controls prior to commencing work. Communicate earthwork progress and plans with construction supervisors to achieve design grades, sections, and profiles to project drawings within specified tolerance. Coordinate with equipment operators to provide calibration checks to Machine Grade Control Systems Capture existing and achieved surfaces as per the measurement and data management policies. Outlines and communicates upcoming work front activities to help prioritize drafting and equipment resources. Ensures adherence to project survey measurement and data management policies for all work assignments. Ensures proper maintenance, cleaning of all survey instruments and site equipment assigned. Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc. Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel. Participate in Job Hazard assessments and site safety inspections. Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement. What You Bring to the Team: Minimum of 3 years Civil Earthworks and Utilities staking Experience. Proficient in operation of Trimble GNSS, Robotic Total Stations, and Data Collector Programs Knowledge of Machine Grade Control systems and typical calibration techniques Experience processing topographic surveys Using Civil 3D is an asset. Knowledge of Civil Survey layout design formats such as corridor section files, surface and linework files. 2 years nuclear or Industrial construction experience is an asset. Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture. Experience in working at major complex Nuclear or Civil projects. Ability to read and understand construction plans, sections and profiles, and specifications. Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry. Perform as-built surveys of installed work as per installation plan requirements. Capture existing and achieved surfaces as per the measurement and data management policies. Outline and communicate upcoming work front activities to help prioritize drafting and equipment resources. Ensures adherence to project survey measurement and data management policies for all work assignments. Ensures proper maintenance, cleaning of all survey instruments and site equipment assigned.
