The Opportunity WSP has a new temporary opportunity for a Field Technician working out of our Medicine Hat Office. You'll be part of our growing Land Development and Municipal Engineering team and will be responsible for conducting field testing services and construction administration related to monitoring construction activities, documenting construction activities, surveying, and being the engineer's on-site representative. When not in the field, you will provide support to engineers for design and related activities. You will be self-motivated and will demonstrate strong time management and communication skills. We offer attractive pay, flexible work options, a great corporate culture, comprehensive and employee-focused benefits including virtual healthcare and a wellness platform as well as great savings programs, and a clear vision for the future. #WeAreWSP What can you expect to do here: Providing technical services, primarily in the field, related to Municipal and Civil Infrastructure Projects Complete site reviews to monitor construction activities and general conformance with drawings and specifications Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, WSP's clients, employees, and the public Identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, near loss incidents, and loss incidents Maintaining excellent field notes, preparing daily and weekly progress reports, and attending scheduled meetings Carrying out fieldwork (e.g. concrete testing, compaction testing, on site sample collection, subcontractor supervision, and site inspections, etc.) Preparing and coordinating project documentation and equipment for field programs Filing and managing all project-related field notes including some data entry and assistance with report preparation Performing and recording work tasks as requested efficiently and accurately while adhering to current industry standards and regulatory requirements You will always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites and take WSP's Life-Saving rules to heart Supporting office assignments under the direction of more experienced engineers and technical employees What you'll bring to WSP ... Technical diploma or testing experience in a related field (e.g. Civil Engineering, environmental sciences, environmental technology) Previous experience construction administration is an asset Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety-conscious attitude A valid Driver's License Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong verbal and written communication in English are essential WSP is one of the world's leading professional services firms.
