Job DescriptionThis position is primarily responsible for the planning, fabrication and manufacture of extremely complex dies, models and gauges.Analyzes machining needs and determines the analytical procedure.Performs all equipment and mold configurations using knowledge of machine shop practices and procedures.Performs complex machining using horizontal lathes, vertical milling machines and surface grinders.Inspects dies to ensure they conform to established specifications.Configures and sharpens drills, tool bits and cutters.Uses a variety of precision inspection equipment.Plans the repair or modification of complex molds and repairs or modifies as required.Repairs damaged dies, gauges and luminaires according to production demands.Tracks tool work order requests in accordance with technical instructions.Manufactures fixtures and tools from raw sketches.Keep records, drawings or other documents as required.Maintains the work area in a clean, orderly and safe conditionPerforms precise machining operations on certain castings that cannot be machined by other departments.Four years of experience with horizontal lathes, vertical milling machines and surface grinders. Key Responsibilities • Assemble and tryout Hot Stamp forming dies for automotive parts. • Maintain and organize job shelves as required. • Deburring of die sets. • Read 3D blueprint such as Smirt accurately. • Preassembly of components prior to installation onto die sets. • Drilling and tapping holes by hand that cannot be CNC machined. • Running of water, hydraulic, nitrogen and pneumatic lines as per design. • Assembly of die caps, as per design onto die sets with use of overhead crane. • Adjust and fitting of components using manual grinding methods. • Maintain cleanliness of work areas including oil clean up, sweeping up steel or other misc. debris as required. • Assist Toolmakers in presses during die alignment checks. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Key Qualifications/Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Machinist/Tool and Die pre-apprentice course or experience an asset. • Crane/Forklift experience an asset • Previous Tooling/Machine Shop experience an asset. • Ability to use hand tools, disk- and hand grinders. • Good communication skills, attendance and performance required. • Driver’s license in good standing, transportation is not an issue. Your Responsibilities Programming and set up of wire EDM machines and programming of CNC milling centers by preparing various materials from drawings Perform PM’s and repairs to Co -Extrusion dies and machines as required Verify conformance of components or tooling to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances and alignments, consistently working to close tolerances Operate a variety of machine tools to cut, mill, and grind or otherwise machine work piece to prescribed dimensions and finish Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times Any other reasonable duty required by Management Key Qualifications/Requirements Who we are looking for High School diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years related experience, preferably in a tooling environment.
