JOB DESCRIPTION Duties: * Sets up and carries out electrical tests under the supervision of an engineer or technologist. * Performs laboratory measurements following established procedures and records the results. * Operates computers and test instruments as required for testing. Performs routine repairs, maintenance and calibration of electrical test equipment, tools and instruments. * Builds or modifies test jigs and support structures to be used for electrical tests. * Specifies and purchases materials and equipment needed for routine operation of electrical test labs. * Maintains test facilities in a safe and organized condition. * Maintains log books and files to document tests performed, operating procedures, equipment PTL-R-5285-220303E1 - Electrical Technician Powertech NB 51155285 - NC 51155308 calibration, etc. * Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of the job. Qualifications: * Certificate of Technology from an Institute of Technology in Electronics (Power/control option), Electrical, Power, Telecommunications, Instrumentation or Automation disciplines with preference given to the discipline directly relating to the position or lab. * Two (2) years of related experience working in a lab setting up and performing tests on a variety of electrical equipment, components and cables. Basic Military QualificationThe first stage of training is the Basic Military Qualification course, or Basic Training, held at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, or through various training establishments across Canada from Esquimalt, British Columbia, to Halifax, Nova Scotia. This training provides the basic core skills and knowledge common to all trades.
