The Role The faculty member in this position is responsible for providing the overarching leadership for the Health Information Management programs. The faculty member in this position has:• the responsibility to seek and implement collegial decisions• the authority to act on emergency issues requiring a decision, pending collegial resolution of the issue• the responsibility to implement collegial decisionsResponsibilitiesSpecific Responsibilities:• Assess, develop, and implement a program strategic plan in consultation with Department faculty• Provides leadership for all approval and accreditation processes related to the HIM programs• Plans and Chairs/delegates chair of Departmental meetings• Assess annual instructional requirements and prepares the annual Department Educational Plan• Reviews program curriculum, including student admission standards, on a regular basis• Schedules program courses, including allocation of instructional space in collaboration with program faculty and Operational Specialist• Participates in Information Night as required• Manages all program evaluation responsibilities, including course evaluations and annual program reports. Position Overview Under the general supervision of the Director, and with the authority derived from the Human Tissue Gift Act, the incumbent is responsible for: Screening potential donors to determine eligibility for eye &/or tissue donation. Providing information about eye &/or tissue donation to bereaved families and/or expectant mothers. Obtaining a direction for eye &/or tissue donation for transplantation, medical education or scientific research. Coordinating and leading tissue recovery teams. Conducting a full range of other eye &/or tissue banking services including tissue storage and distribution in accordance with federal regulations and tissue banking standards. Processing, storing and dispensing amniotic membrane and eye tissue for transplantation. Experience At least one-year previous experience as a Tissue Transplant Coordinator is required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution required. Preference will be given to licensed healthcare professionals. Successful completion of all training and competency requirements as a Tissue Transplant Coordinator I. Must pass an annual competency review in order to maintain classification as a Tissue Transplant Coordinator II. Registered as a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) or Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) with the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) or Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) respectively, preferred. Prepares and delivers post-program evaluations with participants to review the programs and make changes to strengthen the experience for future international mobility program participants.d. Partnerships and Collaboration Developmenta. Maintains regular communication about students and programs with internal and external mobility program partners, such as international university partners, domestic university partners co-marketing study abroad programs, and government and non-profit agencies.b. Promotion and Outreacha. Provides input to, and executes the annual marketing plan for all study abroad (inbound and outbound) programs. Maintains communications on a pre-determined schedule with faculty related to study abroad & exchange opportunities using email, workshops, DC Connect and in-person communications in order to sustain interest in global engagement and share opportunities for faculty involvement in projects or programs.c. Organizes faculty specific information events and public awareness events to promote study abroad, exchange and Douglas International priorities.d. Writes, develops and manages elements of the Global Engagement and DC Connect websites and social media accounts in-line with the GE/ MCO annual communications plan.e.
