Reporting the EHS Director, the EHS Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of Aecons health and safety program at the project level, and leading the safety culture on site. The Manager will oversee a team of Advisors while working alongside the senior management team to ensure that the projects occupational health and safety goals are met. We have multiple positions open to service current and future work throughout Western Canada. This position is a full-time opportunity that will be project based. What You'll Do Here: Work collaboratively with operations to ensure work is completed according to safe work procedures and that Aecons safety program is implemented at all levels of the project. Provide site specific safety training and orientations. Develop and train supervisors and staff on Aecons Health and Safety programs Review project plans and the work site before work commences, identifying safety-related risks and developing strategies to migrate any of those risks. Inspect the project site to evaluate ongoing work conditions to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards. Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and the general public. Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on the project site. Work with senior management to create plans for emergency procedures. Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with safety standards. Investigate incidents to identify causes and to determine corrective/preventive action plans. Represent project at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters. Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports Other duties as assigned. What you bring to the team: Minimum 5 years experience managing health and safety for heavy civil infrastructure projects. Knowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of OH&S legislation and regulations. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred. National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or equivalent preferred. Background in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups. Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Excellent meeting and training facilitation skills. Understanding of disability management and return-to-work programs. Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment. Ability to collaborate with various project stakeholders from subcontractors, clients, the workforce and project leadership. The Quality Inspector is expected to be responsible for inspection and monitoring of work activities to ensure conformance with the applicable drawings, specifications, schedules, work plans, and procedures. The Quality Inspector will also be monitoring in-process civil related construction activities to ensure quality work in accordance with Projects Inspection and Test Plans and the Construction Quality Management Plan. What You'll Do Here: Provides Quality Systems support using the ISO 9001 Standard as the basis for process development and optimization, procedure development, data collection and reporting and Quality Systems training. Understand and interpret technical drawings for roadways, walls, and bridge structures. Conduct quality control inspections on earthworks, walls, bridges, and project structures. Confirm the installation of work is in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and industry standards. Effectively documents, follows-up and closes corrective actions - both internal and external. Promotes safety awareness including adhering to safety rules and requirements. Participates, as needed, in safety field audits and assessments. Verifies the customers quality requirements are in compliance with quality standards and quality program requirements for products and services provided. Collaborates in development and maintenance of Quality Policy, Processes, Procedures, and related documents. Reviews Quality Manuals, documents, and implementation procedures to verify compliance with industry codes and standards, regulations, and regulatory commitments. Collaborates with management for interface on Quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others). Reviews documents prepared by internal or external organizations such as quality manuals and procedures, technical deliverables, test plans and procedures, purchase orders, and subcontracts. Perform material inspection on permanent material coming to site. Recognize non-conformities and monitor that the disposition is carried out correctly. Performs other responsibilities as required. What you bring to the team: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma, a combination of education and industry experience will be considered. Experience in heavy civil and/or infrastructure construction. Internal or Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001:2015) is preferred. ACI/CCIL certification preferred (current within 6 months of hire). Understanding of construction quality standards and processes. Drivers license with a clean drivers abstract. Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Proficiently with MS Office Suite. Able to work long hours and night shift when required.
