As the Community Animator, you will be part of a small but mighty team of creative out-of-the-box thinkers. Your strong leadership and communication skills will help foster and strengthen relationships and engagement with community groups and informal leaders to prevent domestic violence.Working with the YW Leadership, you will support, develop and implement prevention strategies while dealing with the complex issues that arise from prevention work. As the successful candidate for this role, you will possess exceptional attention to detail and provide innovative approaches and best practices in the support of community led activities that encourage healthy relationships and prevention of domestic violence.WHAT MOVES YOU•     You have a positive outlook and enjoy making connections•     You are innovative and enjoy the opportunity to lead change•    You are inspired by the opportunities gained through strengthening relationships•    You believe that advocacy, awareness and cohesive social policy work can bring about positive changeWHAT YOU'LL DO•     Develop, implement, and deliver community- based domestic violence prevention activities.•     Engage and build strong relationships with the community, informal leaders and stakeholders.•     Create action plans to support and develop community capacity.•     Provide support to clients who have transitioned into the community.•     Complete community surveys and assessments.•     Keep up to date on evidence-based practice related to program, i.e. homelessness, domestic violence, mental health, feminist practice.•     Promote the YW and associated programs/services to all stakeholders.•     Maintain records in accordance to program policies and support monitoring and reporting obligations.•     This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week.  Occasional weekends and evening hours may be required.WHAT YOU'VE DONE•     BSW, with registration with Alberta college of Social workers•     3 -5 years of related experience•     Experience conducting community assessments, focus groups and initiative implementation•     Proven record of working with diverse populations, multicultural and Indigenous Peoples•     Strong computer literacy including MS Office suite and able to learn new software•     Must be able to read, write, and deliver services in English.
