Position Summary The Dental Hygienist is responsible for scaling (supra and subgingival), prophylaxis (polishing), periodontal charting and recording, local anesthesia (if certified), impressions, sealants, fluoride varnish, oral health promotion, x-rays, place fillings (if certified). The Dental Hygienist can work unsupervised if the Dental Hygienist has 3000 hours (or more) of practice and is listed on the College of Dental Hygienists extended practice roster. Qualifications Education Registered as a Dental Hygienist and in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba - Required Member of the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association or Manitoba Dental Hygiene Association - Asset Service Delivery Skills, Expertise and Experience Minimum two years’ experience as a Dental Hygienist Critical Skills Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Focus on Results Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes Alignment with Organizational Values Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission and values Indigenous Understanding Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families Interdisciplinary Team, Collaboration Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity and cultural awareness MCC Philosophies Strong knowledge, commitment and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed and community development principles in all aspects of the work Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems Assets Multiple Languages Experience in an inner-city community setting Experience working with service specific programs such as; ClearDent, eChart, and Accuro Current CPR Certification All positions are subject to Criminal Record, Child, and Adult Abuse Registry checks.
