Position Overview Under the general direction of the Manager/Chief Engineer and in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Licensing Standard, the incumbent performs the following: Maintains and repairs high pressure boilers, refrigeration compressors, air compressors, diesel engines and generators, electric motors, pumps, turbines, and all the related equipment necessary to supply and deliver steam, chilled water, compressed air, emergency power, and fire-main-loop high pressure water to meet the requirements of the Centre. Assists the Chief Engineer with coordination of preventative maintenance and demand maintenance. Duty to the safe and efficient operation of the plant. Performs assigned maintenance work and provides assistance to support the maintenance of site as required. Experience Minimum three years’ experience in a steam plant. Experience with instrumentation and industrial controls preferred. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Complete high school education, Manitoba standards required. Certification/Licensure/Registration In accordance with the Regulations under the Power Engineers Act, a valid and current Manitoba Third Class Power Engineer's Certificate required. Instrument Technician, Millwright, Pipefitter, or Electrician licence an asset. Qualifications and Skills Must follow safe work procedures. Physical Requirements Work area is subject to high temperature, humidity and noise. Must take extreme caution in performance of tasks as exposed to high pressure steam piping, rotating equipment and high voltages. Lifting heavy equipment and parts. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment. Pipe Fitter- permanent position DAYS** up to $36/hr to start dep. on exper.** Monday to Thursday (6:00am to 3:00pm) ; Friday (6:00am to 12:00pm)LOCATION: Scarborough, OntarioQualifications:• College Diploma in metal fabrication or equivalent experience• CWB certification in MIG an asset• Knowledge of pipe fitting• Eligible to be certified with CWB MIG (Flat)• 5 years+ experience in welding and fabrication industry• Experience with TSSA refrigeration & pressure piping an asset• Ability to read drawings, 3D models, and take direction• Able to operate accessory equipment for pipe fitting (pipe beveling, pipe threading, pipe cutting, torch or plasma cutter, drill press)• Strong understanding of layout, fabrication and design• Punctual with good attendance record• Able to effectively communicate with colleagues and SupervisorRequirements:• Fabricate and install complex pipe subassemblies• Prepare and set up tools and equipment for welding jobs such as gas metal arc and tungsten arc welding• Efficiently layout spools to minimize scrap and rework and ensure welded parts are in order before assembling into final product• Perform quality assurance checks to ensure pipe spools are fit per drawings and specifications• MIG welding, fabrication, and inspection of work in accordance to drawing specifications• Follow instructions and work under minimal (at times) technical direction from Welding Supervisor• Handle medium to heavy materials as needed using crane• Complete assigned work within expected period(s) of time• Complete shop records and timecards accurately, completely, and on time
