The role will also involve being an addictions medicine resource for the broader George Pearson Centre, Dogwood Lodge Long Term Care Home as well as the Cambie Gardens assisted living facility. All of these facilities are beside each other, in the same campus of care in South Vancouver.Housed at Ward 1 of George Pearson Centre, the ABI Transitional Housing Program is focused on transitioning individuals with acquired brain injuries from acute care back into the community. The ABI Transitional Housing Program includes a comprehensive interdisciplinary team, including nursing and a wide variety of allied health team members. The majority of these patients have polysubstance use disorder (PSUD) and will need ongoing addictions medicine support. The ability to prescribe and titrate methadone, suboxone and other OAT is a must.You will have access to physiatry and psychiatry consultation and support and will be paid 2 sessions a week for this work.The broader George Pearson Centre (GPC) is a 47 bed long-term care facility for people with very complex medical needs, including chronic ventilation, complex wounds and tube feeds. Some of the people in the facility also struggle with PSUD.Dogwood Lodge (DL) is a 150 bed long-term care home for adults with complex care needs, including polysubstance use disorder. Likewise Cambie Gardens (CG) is a 44 bed supported housing site for adults with complex care needs, including polysubstance use disorder. At CG clients live in their own apartments or in homes of 4-6 beds.As the addictions resource for GPC, DL, and CG you would be asked to consult on and manage the pharmacotherapy for the addictions needs for the campus of care, at the request of and in collaboration with each patient’s MRP. It is anticipated that this would take no more than 1 session (3.5 hours) of work a week, with 4-5 patients being seen a week. Should more time be required, you will of course be compensated accordingly.The position is 0.3 FTE/3 sessions per week.
