As part of Aecons in house engineering team (Aecon Utility Engineering), the OSP Field Technician will play an important role in gathering field data to ensure that proposed designs are accurate based on field verification. Note: This is a part time position, with the possibility to turn into a full time opportunity. What You'll Do Here: Retrieve physical records from customer records or by other database collection systems Complete all necessary field work/data as required to ensure compliance with all CSA/ESA and TELUS TOPPS guidelines (i.e. Aerial/Buried and UG structures) Ensure existing records are accurate based on what exists in the field Open service boxes/vaults, when possible, following safety standards and protocols Take pole measurements for Pole Line Analysis Proof conduit ducts as required Review the proposed design and ensure it would be feasible based on the field pickups Ability to identify safety issues, third party roadblocks, possible trespass situations in the field Effective communication with the customer and the developer to ensure their responsibilities are relayed accurately Ensure that the customer and developer are in an alignment with the proposed design Identify and communicate potential risks associated with a design that could impact the build Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging Perform other duties as required What You Bring to the Team: Post secondary education in a technical discipline (civil, mechanical etc.) Utility design background, telecommunications experience considered an asset Safety conscious attitude Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Able to work independently while also having excellent communication with the broader team Be a champion of inclusion and diversity Comfortable working outside in a variety of weather conditions Valid drivers license and willing to travel The expected pay range for this position is $24 - $33.
