Organizing workflow, developing and maintaining departmental manuals within the Quality Management System, and delegating responsibilities as required. Networking with internal/external organizations. Generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Ensuring effective communication is maintained with all levels of medical, technical staff, and management through evaluating and refining communication strategy. Supporting and assisting with staff activities to enhance safe practice and quality improvement in the lab. Providing leadership through teaching, research, mentorship, and sharing of expertise.   Qualifications / Skills:     Medical Laboratory Technologist.     Current member in good standing with CMLTO required.     ART certification and/or equivalent BSc preferred.     7 years recent experience Hematology and Coagulation in a hospital setting preferred.     Previous supervisory experience preferred.     Demonstrated sound knowledge base in relevant disciplines.     Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to foster a supportive team environment.     Knowledge of adult education principles.     Knowledge of continuous quality improvement, total quality management techniques, and lean principles.     Knowledge of ACD standards and regulations.     Demonstrated effective problem solving and decision making skills.     Effective written and oral communication skills.     Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels.     Computer skills that include Word, Excel, and Power Point experience is required.

Supporting and assisting with staff activities to enhance safe practice and quality improvement, and team building in the lab. Providing routine and special haematology education to medical laboratory technologist and assistant students, medical residents, and other trainees. Providing leadership through mentorship and sharing of expertise.    Qualifications and Skills:   •    Current CMLTO registration in good standing as a general Medical Laboratory Technologist is required.  •    ART certification or BSc MLS or equivalent preferred.  •    Five (5) years recent Haematology experience including advanced morphology skills required, experience in a hospital setting required.  •    Demonstrated sound knowledge base in Haematology.  •    Demonstrated ability with laboratory automation.  •    Demonstrated proficiency with LIS and middleware.  •    Demonstrated ability in operating and troubleshooting highly complex analyzers, and sound knowledge of relevant analytical techniques.  •    Must have sound knowledge of Quality Control (QC) Westgard rules and strong ability to use QC to troubleshoot testing issues.  •    Demonstrated leadership skills and coaching skills with the ability to foster and support in a team environment.  •    Ability to interact effectively and professional with individuals at all levels.  •    Knowledge of adult education principles.  •    Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement and Total Quality Management techniques required. The CAMH Clinical Laboratory at the Queen Street Site is recruiting (2) full-time, permanent Registered Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT). Reporting to the Laboratory Director and working closely with the Laboratory Supervisor, your duties will focus on implementing, maintaining and/or improving quality processes in alignment with the quality management system of the laboratory. Performing routine testing in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology and Coagulation and/or specialized Biochemistry testing according to legislative, accreditation, and good laboratory practice may also be assigned. You will also perform other duties as required. The candidate will apply the CAMH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West. The successful candidate is a graduate from an accredited program for Medical Laboratory Technologists as a General MLT in combination with 1 year of experience in a Core Laboratory environment. The successful candidate will also be a registered member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO). A BSc degree in Biochemistry or Chemistry is preferred as the CAMH Laboratory also performs high complexity Biochemistry testing involving gas or liquid chromatography with UV or mass spectrometry detection. The successful candidate has experience with laboratory AC Diagnostics (formerly IQMH) accreditation requirements and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the quality management system concepts and values; has excellent interpersonal and communication skills; works well in a busy environment; has strong organizational skills, and prioritizes tasks to ensure reliable and prompt patient care while achieving high work efficiency; has demonstrated computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and sound knowledge of the laboratory information system; shows independent judgment, and deductive reasoning with attention to details. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary.
