The CAMH Clinical Laboratory at the Queen Street Site is recruiting (2) full-time, permanent Registered Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT). Reporting to the Laboratory Director and working closely with the Laboratory Supervisor, your duties will focus on implementing, maintaining and/or improving quality processes in alignment with the quality management system of the laboratory. Performing routine testing in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology and Coagulation and/or specialized Biochemistry testing according to legislative, accreditation, and good laboratory practice may also be assigned. You will also perform other duties as required. The candidate will apply the CAMH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West. The successful candidate is a graduate from an accredited program for Medical Laboratory Technologists as a General MLT in combination with 1 year of experience in a Core Laboratory environment. The successful candidate will also be a registered member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO). A BSc degree in Biochemistry or Chemistry is preferred as the CAMH Laboratory also performs high complexity Biochemistry testing involving gas or liquid chromatography with UV or mass spectrometry detection. The successful candidate has experience with laboratory AC Diagnostics (formerly IQMH) accreditation requirements and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the quality management system concepts and values; has excellent interpersonal and communication skills; works well in a busy environment; has strong organizational skills, and prioritizes tasks to ensure reliable and prompt patient care while achieving high work efficiency; has demonstrated computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and sound knowledge of the laboratory information system; shows independent judgment, and deductive reasoning with attention to details. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary.
