A day in the life: You will provide project development and delivery (proposals, project management, client relations, team development and training); You will lead or perform the planning, field support and completion of geotechnical investigations for buildings, highways, bridges, retaining walls, slope stability, and municipal infrastructure; You will be responsible for review of construction materials testing and field monitoring of geotechnical aspects of construction projects; You will review and interpret monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation and testing programs; You will prepare geotechnical design recommendations and parameters for analyses and design of structure foundations; You will be a technical resource in the ground engineering business across the life cycle of project work: problem definition, solution development, testing, engineering, commissioning and operations support; You will work to build relationships and business opportunities with other WSP staff in Dartmouth, the Atlantic region and around the company through constructive engagement and collaboration; You will contribute to a rewarding and collaborative work atmosphere in the office and remotely, and to engaging junior and intermediate staff in all disciplines; You will contribute to a culture of health, safety and protection of the environment by being a role model to junior and new staff and by giving industry and site perspectives to inexperienced staff; You will provide an understanding of our client's needs and deliver high quality service to ensure client satisfaction; You will be a key participant in team and client meetings; You will help develop and participate in strong interoffice and intercompany teams to achieve project goals; You will recognize areas for internal improvement and work with other senior colleagues to develop these improvements in the Atlantic region; You will endeavour to minimize our exposure and risk across projects; and, You will help identify partnership opportunities and capitalize on "add-on" opportunities within existing projects and new clients. We are currently hiring a Senior Transportation Engineer - Road Safety Lead who will play a leadership role to lead Vision Zero Surrey within our Transportation Division. As our Vision Zero and Road Safety Lead, your senior position will play a key role in implementing our road safety vision. Reporting to the Traffic and Road Safety Engineering Manager, you will help lead the development and implementation of data-driven road safety improvements and programs in support of the priorities identified in the Vision Zero Surrey Safe Mobility Plan and the upcoming Surrey Transportation Plan. Responsibilities • You will develop strong working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, in order to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to road safety. • You will perform detailed collision analysis, identify problems, and develop solutions using established and innovative data analytics strategies. In addition, you will develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators and targets. • You will use your innovative and strategic mindset to identify, research, recommend, and review road safety initiatives, programs, opportunities, and countermeasures. • You will seek safety through roadway design and operational changes and can provide expert advice to other professionals. • You will lead the development of road safety education and engagement initiatives. • You possess great customer service and communication skills both written and orally. You will prepare reports, presentations, and responses to queries from Council, committees, and the public in a timely and helpful manner. • You will lead and provide mentorship to Engineers, Technologists, or other staff. • You will lead and coordinate advisory groups with road safety professionals from other agencies such as ICBC, Fraser Health and the police. • You will develop terms of reference, lead procurement processes, and manage consultants to develop road safety plans, policies and/or projects. Qualifications • You possess a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a minimum of 7-10 years of related experience in traffic or transportation engineering, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. • You are registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with EGBC or out of province equivalent. • Directly related experience within the public sector and/or working as a Consultant on municipal transportation projects is required. • A valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.
