The successful candidate has experience working in narrow trenches which may contain other utilities or fiber optic lines. In addition, care will have to be taken with regard to overhead utilities, trees, and other potential obstacles. We also offer industry standard wages and health benefits. Your responsibilities will include:Operation of a 130 John Deere, a 180 John Deere and a Cat 420F excavator.Safe and efficient excavation around utilities and mains, trench grading, backfilling, and dump truck loadingComplete daily preventative maintenance checks on equipmentRead grade plans and understands grade stakesAssist pipe layer, laborer, and foreman on site Take and follow direction to help sustain a positive work environmentOther duties as assigned, including attending and participating in tool box safety meetingsMaintain a safe work site, adhere to safe work practices, and safe job proceduresComply with established company policies and procedures, and applicable Occupational Health and Safety regulations Required Skills and Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an underground utility service Excavator OperatorValid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License, and have own transportation to get to/from the job site.Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and site activitiesSelf-motivated and able to work independently, or as part of a teamStrong work ethic which allows you to take pride in doing a job efficiently and effectivelyAbility to take responsibility for performing the tasks required for the jobWorks well under pressure and with time constraintsAbility to work long hours with some weekends and overtime in all types of outdoor environments and weather conditionsStrong communication skillsKnowledge of hand signalsMust have CSA approved safety boots If this sounds like the job opportunity for you, please apply today! The successful candidate should have experience driving a tandem dump truck, and can operate a tractor backhoe and excavator for loading & unloading purposes.
