ResponsibilitiesLeads the strategic planning/design, implementation, promotion, evaluation and maintenance of various allied health practice issues, projects and initiatives including those related to professional standards, scope and regulation, transition of unregulated professions to regulated, patient safety priorities, orientation, resource planning, and research activities.Working in collaboration with Clinical Practice Leaders and Clinical Managers/Directors, provides leadership to and guides clinical teams to enhance their understanding of regulated and unregulated allied health standards, scope of practice, quality of practice initiatives, new technology integration or innovation programs. Develops and implements strategies and procedures that support these initiatives and ensures that planned practices are designed to support the maintenance or enhancement of clinical care delivery.Develops and recommends, in conjunction with Clinical Managers/Directors, allied health and interprofessional care models that support best practices, regulations, improved patient/client access, efficient flow of patients/clients across the continuum of care; identifies and reviews current and future service delivery needs, works in consultation with clinical leaders and recommends implementation plans that will meet identified goals.Provides consultation and project support related to broad Fraser Health wide changes such as the primary and community care redesign impacting a variety of allied health professions.Supports Clinical Practice Leaders, Clinical Managers/Directors through transition of when unregulated allied health professions become regulated; ensures all stakeholders are informed of relevant changes and provides change management support as related to practice.In collaboration with Clinical Practice Leaders and Clinical Managers/Directors, promotes consistent care to our patients/clients/residents/families across sites, programs and professions by decreasing unnecessary variations in care practices through the integration and promotion of evidence informed best practice.Participates in the Professional Practice Council Networks for Allied Health professionals and also as a foundation for inter-professional practice.  Translates outcomes and changes back to Allied Health professionals across Fraser Health, in collaboration with Clinical Practice Leaders and Clinical Managers, and ensures changes are implemented.Monitors practice trends, education/skill development needs, student practice, related to various allied health professions, identifies opportunities that promote innovation and partnership for improvement, and supports consistent delivery of quality care.  Identifies needs and ensures effective processes are in place to access practice and work flow related to these improvement processes.Identifies risks to allied health professionals and/or Fraser Health associated with related practices; plans corrective action as required and evaluates action outcomes.Leads the implementation of change initiatives related to allied health practice; assesses impact and evaluates outcomes.Evaluates auditing tools that provide measurements of patient outcomes, allied health practice and related initiatives; develops or leads the development of revised or new audit tools, provides feedback to various sites and clinical teams on audit tool effectiveness and results, and develops and implements plans for improvements.Provides reports, updates and communications to senior leadership, executive sponsors, and Ministry of Health as required.Provides operational management including recruitment, retention and performance management of staff and budget accountability for the portfolio.Represents Professional Practice on regional, provincial, external agencies, committees and projects and fosters effective linkages with other organizations.
