Technicians will assist Electrical Contractors during the installation, troubleshooting and verification process of Fire Alarm Installations ensuring that industry best practices are met throughout all phases of the installation process. Technicians will also be required to install and configure electronic components and terminate low voltage field wiring neatly and efficiently.Fire Alarm Install Technicians will collaborate with other Installation team members and may also be required to assist Project Managers and Engineering Consultants with Fire Alarm system design concepts including the production of detailed input-output Matrices.What we look forCompletion of a college diploma in Fire Protection or Electrical/Electronic or Licensed Electrician Working knowledge of provincial building codes. Proficient in the use of computers. Experience with PLC or computer programming an assetStrong troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electronic test equipment. 3 years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician is an asset. Proficient with the use of hand tools and small power toolsAbility to manage multiple large projects accurately and efficiently and adapt to changing customer needs. Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams pertaining for Fire Alarm Systems and Ancillary Control CircuitsAbility to express clear technical solutions in a clear and concise manner. Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 40lbs. Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding. Possess a valid driver's license. Summary of Duties  To carry out routine inspections, repairs and maintenance to electrical equipment and systems throughout the Hospital as assigned.  Regularly inspect, test and repair as required: electrical distribution equipment, generators and controls, motors, variable speed drives, fire alarm systems, beds, security systems, paging systems, HVAC units and other equipment  Perform regular preventative maintenance on high voltage equipment  Install electrical systems as part of renovation projects as assigned  Create and maintain accurate records according to legislative requirements and departmental policies   Qualifications/Skills  Minimum Secondary school diploma plus completion of Trade and Apprenticeship program require  Valid Province of Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician required  Significant recent related experience as an electrician required, ideally in a hospital/healthcare setting  Demonstrated thorough understanding of all applicable legislation, regulations, building codes related to electrical applications  Ability to read electrical blueprints required  Fire alarm ticket and high voltage experience an asset  Extensive experience performing electrical repairs, trouble-shooting and solving electrical problems and working on controls required  Demonstrated good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required  Demonstrated good ability to solve problems and work on own initiative
