We are looking for a Quality Supervisor, Electrical who will be responsible for overseeing in process, formal inspections for all specific trade systems and accuracy control activities at all stages of construction. In this role, you will be responsible for and ensure specifications, class rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions are implemented at each stage of construction. Your strong communication skills which include verbal and written will be used to ensure that the following processes occur. These responsibilities and duties include daily processing in quality control inspections, identifying nonconformities with contract requirements, develop corrective actions and communicating requirements to shop personnel.The Supervisor provides technical guidance and direction for dimensional accuracy control of structural and outfit systems. Participates in the development of build strategies used for construction, floor and analyses data and helps to develop plans for improvement of product accuracy. Additionally, the Supervisor will ensure formal inspections with owners and regulatory bodies are completed as required.This role reports to the Manager, Quality & Accuracy Control.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.What you'll do Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and coordinating and monitoring work processes Plans, monitors, and appraises job results Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations Completes operations by developing schedules, assigning, and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, maintaining reference manuals, and implementing new procedures Reviews specifications, class rules, work instructions and SOPs to determine trade specificquality requirements for each contract Develops new construction and repair projects' Inspection and Test Plans for trade specific systems. Ensures plans are implemented in accordance with contract requirements Performs daily in-process quality inspections of trade specific work. Documents and communicates results to responsible supervisors Perform accuracy control activities for new construction and repair projects at Seaspan Shipyards Produces and signs final inspection reports that are deliverable as objective quality evidence to the customer Performs receiving inspection of components, mechanical and electrical systems, steel, and pipe Attends formal inspections with customers and regulatory bodies. Documents all defects, nonconformities and provides results to responsible supervisors and Customer/Class as required Works with trade and area supervisors to improve in-process quality Performs gap analyses of procedures, work instructions and forms for trade specific systems Communicate results to respective area and assists in developing and modifying procedures, work instructions and forms as required Maintains quality files for trade specific area Performs periodic audits of trade specific suppliers to ensure compliance with contract requirements What you'll bring 5 years supervisory experience managing a team in a complex work environment Diploma in relevant subject area (Marine, Mechanical Naval Architect, Electrical Engineering or Geomatics /equivalent Surveying measuring background preferred) or Red Seal Trades Certificates, or CWB CSA W178.2 Level 1 Welding Inspector, or NACE Level I Paint Inspector 5-8 years' experience in shipyards or complex manufacturing industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or 5-8 years' experience as a welding inspector of steel structure and piping fabrication, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and technical understanding of NDT techniques and their application to meet contract, regulatory and statutory requirements for trade specific systems Prior Quality/Accuracy Control or Quality Assurance experience is desirable Formal quality assurance certifications desirable Demonstration of exemplify business ethics, integrity and honesty in all situations Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, and creative problem-solving abilities Demonstrates initiative, active listening skills, and is action/result oriented Ability to collaborate with teams and focus people's energy and attention on bringing various priorities together to achieve set goals and objectives Excellent technical, analytical, presentation, organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsUnderstanding of the fabrication, installation, commissioning, and testing of trade specific systems Proficient in the use of Total Stations, Laser Scanning, Laser Trackers Competent in the use of Survey Software, particularly Spatial Analyzer Solid understanding of quality control and inspection procedures Ability to develop Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) Technical skills including an understanding of quality techniques, their application to shipbuilding and the ability to read and interpret technical specification and drawings Ability to read material test report and understand chemical / physical requirements for steel.
