About Us As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The Quality Control Inspector - Civil will report directly to the Quality Manager - Civil and will be responsible for performing in-process and final inspections to ensure construction activities meet technical and quality requirements. What is the Opportunity? Perform quality inspections and testing activities in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan. Complete all associated records to document the status and results of performed inspections. Understand and interpret technical drawings for civil works. Verify that material meets Purchase Order, Code, Standards requirements. Initiate non-conformance reports when required. Identify and segregating nonconforming items. Collaborate in the development and maintenance of project specific procedures and work instructions. Collaborate with management for interface on Quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others). Verify that calibrated equipment is used during the performance of inspection activities. Support with the preparation of History File or History Docket. What You Bring to the Table: Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent. A combination of education and industry experience will also be considered. 1-3 years experience in heavy civil and/or infrastructure construction. Previous experience with inspection and testing of concrete. Working knowledge on the CSA A23.1, CSA A23.2, CSA N291 and CSA N287 standards and other applicable building regulations. Working knowledge on the CSA W47.1 and CSA W59 standards. ACI/CCIL certification (preferred) CSA W178 Level 1 or 2 Visual Welding Inspection (preferred). Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Proficiently with MS Office Suite. Understands design and construction requirements. The COE Welding Engineer position supports the welding initiatives of the Aecon Nuclear Centre of Excellence (COE) department. Key Responsibilities Review the reports of inspection and testing performed to civil work. Confirm that any design changes have been signed and sealed by the Design Engineer. Confirm that the detailed designs are the latest version submitted to the Department. Record any changed conditions encountered, observations made, and deficiencies found during site visits. Non-conformance reporting. Stamp certificate which indicates the work was built according to the designs including any design changes. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of FRE experience 5 plus years of experience in civil engineering: concrete, shotcrete, grout, earthworks, welding and coatings. Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. Reporting to the responsible Quality Director, this role will support work within the DNNP. The Quality Specialist will be responsible for the development of quality associated documentation and processes which comply with customer contract, technical specifications, Code and Standard requirements and local jurisdictional requirements. The Quality Specialist will work closely with Project Management and will be responsible to assist with the development of Comprehensive Work Packages (CWPs) which includes development of Construction, Inspection & Test Plans (CITPs). This development work will be performed in accordance with an Integrated Quality Management Plan (IQMP) and a Project Execution Plan. The Quality Specialist shall identify and report quality problems and problems related to the effective implementation of the IQMP. We are looking for a Quality Supervisor, Electrical who will be responsible for overseeing in process, formal inspections for all specific trade systems and accuracy control activities at all stages of construction. Ballard has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Mechanical Technologist to join its Technology and Product Development Team in Burnaby, BC. The successful candidate will apply their strong technical skills to the develop fuel cell and fuel cell component testing equipment for Ballard's state-of-the-art test lab. Working closely with a team of technicians, technologists and engineers in our fast-paced environment, the candidate will advance and maintain Ballard's broad line of fuel cell testing equipment. Applications supported will include motive power applications for materials handling, power modules for zero emissions transit busses and engineering services for clients including world-leading automotive OEMs developing zero emissions passenger vehicles. The successful candidate will work well with senior engineering staff, is capable of independent work and will contribute to the development of Ballard's fuel cell system products. Join us!Role:Heavy Duty Mechanics (HDM) perform major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of locomotives. To learn more about the job click here to view the video.Critical performance areas include the following but may vary depending on the location and circumstances:Inspect, service and maintain locomotives, in accordance with federal and company regulations, including changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts.Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and making required repairs.Assemble and start engines.Use electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication equipment and other vehicle repair tools and equipment, and operate said tools and machinery in a safe and effective manner.Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports, and record details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures.Operate locomotive on shop tracks.Test locomotives on shop track after repair.Working Conditions:Ability to work irregular shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.Shop environment.Occasional travel.Training:Successful candidates will receive on-the-job training, both theoretical and practical instructions. Depending on your level of experience, candidates may receive a 4-year on-the-job apprenticeship program and will attend a series of courses at your work location in Canada. Training will include locomotive components, locomotive control systems, locomotive air brakes, locomotive start up, basic diesel electric systems and CN maintenance regulations. Truck and traction motors, event recorders, as well as fuel, oil, water and air systems plus power assembly will also be covered.
