This role is responsible for collaborating with multi-disciplinary supervisors in planning, supervising, executing, and reporting of field operations and site sustaining activities, while meeting GCMC environmental and health and safety requirements.The 2024 field program is anticipated to include the operation of two remote camps, completion of a ~6,000 meter drill program, geotechnical test pitting, ground and airborne geophysics, road and bridge maintenance, mobile equipment maintenance, environmental baseline studies, and technical studies supported by five helicopters.The fulltime position will be field-based from approximately June 1st - October 1st, and office-based during the winter months. Reporting to the General Manager, the Powerline Superintendent is responsible to ensure that projects are completed on schedule in compliance with the contracts and the job cost estimates and all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship. The Superintendent is also responsible for the management of day to day operations in the yard. What You'll Do Here: Responsible for the overall planning and scheduling to ensure that projects are constructed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Monitors the overall progress of the projects and takes corrective action where necessary. Coordinates and monitors the three main functions Administration, Scheduling and Construction. Represents the Company with the owner. Ensure that the owner is being advised of all extra work and claims and that subcontractors are being advised of back charges. Ensure that contracts are kept current and being updated with change orders on a regular basis. Responsible for implementing and monitoring of the Companys Safety and Environment Policies and QC Plans. Ensures that all functions and operations on the job are following local legislative requirements. Directs and maintains discipline and morale of the project staff. Ensures that Company policies and project procedures are being adhered to. Ensures compliance with union agreements, if applicable. Reviews and provides approval of project cost reports and ensures projected job profits are accurate and current. Assists in bid process. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required. What You Bring to the Team: Technical school background and at least ten years of construction experience. Experience in the Electrical Utility Contracting Industry. IMSA Level II Certification is an asset, training can also be arranged. Experience in the Construction of Traffic Signals, Highway Illumination and Intelligent Transportation Systems Working computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Sound knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals. Experience with contract and subcontract management. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work within a team environment. Strong organizational and time management. Maintain valid Ontario (G) drivers license Understanding of Regulations governing Commercial Vehicle Safe Operation Ability to travel within Ontario as required.
