SMRH is an acute care centere with approx. 90 inpatient beds, offers echocardiography, exercise stress testing with nuclear imaging and pharmacologic stress testing, pacemaker follow up, endoscopy (diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy), bronchoscopy, PFTs, Sleep studies, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis (acute and chronic). Diagnostic imaging modalities include General imaging, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT scanning, and MRI. The ICU has its own portable ultrasound machine. There is a Cardiac Rehab Clinic managed by a Nurse Practitioner and physiotherapist in collaboration with Internal Medicine Physicians. Responsibilities Successful candidates are expected to share the Internal Medicine call rotation. Some positions provide weekly coverage for the Intensive Care Unit and IM Hospitalist roles, as well as provide outpatient care appropriate to their sub specialty. St. Martha's is a teaching site for Dalhousie University Medical School's Internal Medicine Program and, as such, there is an expectation to participate in teaching both family medicine and internal medicine residents and fellows.
