All of our sites are connected through our regional Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) integrated into our single Electronic Health Record providing real-time patient histories anywhere within Interior Health. We have on site availability of full-service echocardiography facilities, a nuclear cardiology program and heart rhythm service to support the needs of residents of Northwest Toronto.   At present, the Cardiology Program is working on a multidimensional strategy to expand to a regional Cardiology Level 3 & 4 Program, with expansion of on-site invasive cardiology procedures.   Our Ambulatory Cardiac Care Clinic offers a wide range of services, with annual patient visits exceeding 25,000.  The Clinic is supported by an interdisciplinary team that includes Cardiologists, Echo sonographers, cardiology technologists, registered nurses, and clerical associates, to provide a range of services from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of heart disease in both adult and paediatric populations.   We have an on-site Pacemaker Implantation Program that works collaboratively with our Interventional Radiology Suite. The Program is equipped to handle complicated pacemaker implant cases, including leadless implants and cases involving the left bundle area. We also have on-site support from a paediatric cardiologist.  A busy outpatient pacemaker/device clinic supports the implant program. We work with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to provide services for implantation of defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapies. Our cardiac Cath lab services are also currently coordinated with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.   Position Summary   HRH is seeking an experienced Cardiac Electrophysiologist to support heart rhythm services on a part-time basis. This position offers the opportunity to work with the current two (2) full-time electrophysiologists in the Cardiology Division. The successful candidate will have access to time in an interventional suite for pacemaker implantation and be able to utilize the Ambulatory Cardiac Clinic for outpatient cardiac consultations and be part of a fully functional Pacemaker Assessment Clinic.   Qualifications   The successful candidate must be a fully trained cardiologist with a strong academic background and hold a certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Sonographers daily duties within Sunnybrook’s Echo Lab include: Greeting patients after they have registered at the reception desk. Confirming patient identification using a two patient identifier system. Explaining the procedure to the patient making sure the patient understands the explanation. Instruct the patient in preparation for the test and allow the patient sufficient time to change in privacy. Ensure the patient demographics on the ultrasound machine are correct. Following hand hygiene protocols for each echocardiogram. Performing a thorough echocardiogram as per the echo lab protocols. Set up and administration of agitated saline contrast of Definity contrast if required. Allowing the patient time to clean residual gel and dress post-test procedure. Discharge the patient from the echo lab. Deposit bed sheets and linen in hamper. Clean ultrasound machine probes with Cavi-Wipes. Prepare a preliminary echocardiography report for the reading cardiologist. Teach cardiology residents. At the end of the shift the sonographer is responsible for cleaning the entire ultrasound machine, echo bed and returning all supplies to supply cabinet. Implementation of new ASE guideline documents. Maintain quality patient care. Sonographers are required to maintain their required certifications with the ARDMS or Sonography Canada. Sonographers are expected to be members in good standing with the CMRITO (required to practice sonography in Ontario). Sonographers are required to obtain 30 echocardiography related CME’s within a 3 year period as per Corhealth standard P12. Sonographers are required to obtain 25 medical related CME’s per year as per CMRITO standards.
