Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the Co-generation/Building Operator is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, shutdown and start up, chemical treatment, operational checks and testing of all Power Generation, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, instrumentation, plumbing, mechanical, fire alarm, computer and associated equipment, controls and systems in accordance with corporate, unit and departmental goals and objectives, policies and standards. In these roles you will get to play a crucial role in the successful operation and maintenance of all water treatment plant equipment and related water storage and conveyance facilities at the Faro Mine Complex.Please Note: This posting is for both current and on-going needs for our Water Treatment Operations for 2024: Responses May be delayed. Local Candidates preferred but open to candidates who are available on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis. Positions begin on a Temporary Fixed-Term basis with the potential to move to a regular, full-time role in the future. These positions work shifts of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off with 12 hours per shift. Shifts will comprise of both day and night shifts during your rotation. The compensation rate for these positions currently begins at $28.07/hr for entry-level and determined by experience. Most will be offered the entry level rate. These roles include paid travel to and from the site as well as housing accommodations, but employees are responsible for providing their own food/meals. What You’ll Be Doing:As a WTO you will perform a variety of various functions that may include the following:Operation and monitoring of water treatment facilities.Maintain, manage, and troubleshoot equipment including pumps and piping.Work near and around large diesel powered pumps and generators.Work 12-hour day and night shifts as scheduled, in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments.Complete timely and accurate daily records of plant and pumping performance.Conduct daily site inspections and record observations.Notify supervisor of any issues relating to the water treatment process, pumps, and pipelines, with detailed observations of abnormal conditions.Always maintain a high standard of housekeeping.Engage in all forms of labour to assist in the successful operation of all water treatment processes.Assist site trades and services personnel as required.Attend training sessions as required.Complete Health and Safety (H&S) training related to on-site policies and company requirements and adhere to requirements while performing work.Complete chemical handling training and adhere to requirements while performing work.Perform other duties as assigned.Participate in mine rescue training.Participate in first aid training.What Required Skills You’ll Bring:Previous water treatment, process or industrial experience preferred.Valid class 5 driver’s license required.Both off pavement and winter driving experience preferred.Troubleshooting and detailed ability to provide accurate descriptions of problems.Mechanical aptitude is an asset.Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.Willingness to work in a remote northern community.Willingness to work in a team environment.Willingness to resolve issues in a professional manner.Willingness to take initiative and be self-motivated.Willingness to accept accountability for tasks assigned and ask for clarification if information is unclear.Understanding of time management.Able to lift, pull, stand, or crouch for long periods of time (physically fit).Capable of the safe handling of lime and other chemicals.Able to adapt to change.Ability to lift 25 kg.Familiar with computer skills -Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)Proven understanding of safe work practices and mitigating risk.Ability to work with little supervision and function in a multidiscipline environment.Minimum Clearance Required to Start:Not Applicable/NoneThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 75 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
