Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has 162 acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs. CBRH opened its door to patients in 1995. Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than 200,000 patients a year. It is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals. Services: anesthesiology cancer and supportive care cardiac respiratory dermatology diabetes education services diagnostic imaging dialysis emergency medicine general surgery geriatric assessment and rehabilitation intensive care unit internal medicine laboratory services maternal/child support services mental health and addiction services neonatal care nutrition and diabetic counseling obstetrics and gynecology occupational therapy ophthalmology otolaryngology palliative care physiotherapy plastic surgery social work spiritual and religious care volunteer services Responsibilities You will be a zone leader for frailty care Working in a collaborative frailty team in the emergency department and acute care with nurse practitioners, OTs, pharmacists, physios, and social workers Provide frailty-informed, ambitious, and optimistic urgent care in the first 72 hours of a patient’s illness. Be part of Nova Scotia Health’s Division of Geriatric Medicine and adjunct appointment and research opportunities with Dalhousie University’s Division of Geriatric Medicine. Focus on at-risk, under-served populations, notably including older adults who live with frailty, and anyone who is indigenous, and those who live with addictions.
