This position involves 12 hour shift rotation working days, evenings and nights as well as weekend work. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West. The successful candidate must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is also required. The candidate must have medication administration certification or completion of an RPN education preparation program that includes medication administration. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling you to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing, addiction issues and risk assessments. You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behaviour. Psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is required. You will have an understanding of how to develop and implement forensic risk assessment plans and a fundamental understanding of the forensic legal and health systems. The successful candidate will be a self-directed team player who is highly organized and has the communication and interpersonal skills that enable them to work within an inter-professional collaborative team environment. Experience working with individuals from diverse ethno cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds is also required. Computer literacy is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
