Summary of Duties We are seeking an experienced RPN with current surgical experience, including pre-operative and post-operative assessment, and discharge experience. CCC-3 is an exciting inpatient service within the Crisis and Critical Care (CCC) program at CAMH, and is seeking a part-time, permanent Registered Practical Nurses to join the team. CCC-3 is a 25 bed unit that provides support to clients who are 18+ experiencing the acute phase of a mental and/or addictions disorder. As a member of the inter-professional team, you will provide holistic client-centred psychiatric nursing care. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; participate in reflective practice sessions; facilitate group programming on the unit; provide mentorship and supervision to students and participate in the research activities for the program. Successful candidates are well supported by unit leadership team, the Advance Practice Clinical Leader and Manager, during their orientation. Unit orientation focuses on developing and refining the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and effectively on an acute general psychiatric unit. Staff are expected to practice safely and in accordance to the Practice Standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and Canadian Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (CFMHN). The Acute Care Program is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (until November 22, 2024), Registered Nurses to work in COMPASS (Concurrent Outpatient Medical Psychosocial Addiction Support Service). COMPASS is an integrated research/clinical service incorporating medical treatment for the ill effects of addiction, including medical and non-medical treatment for opioid dependence, alcohol problems, outpatient withdrawal management (day detox) as well as the treatment of clients experiencing chronic pain. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting assessments and contributing to treatment plans that will involve liaising with other services, community agencies, and practitioners to coordinate and deliver care for clients in an efficient and safe manner, as a member of the inter-professional team. You will provide client-centred psychiatric, addictions and general nursing care and ensure the security and safety of the care environment. You will practice in accordance with CNO standards, with CAMH Policies and the CAMH Practice Model, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice (CFMHN). As a member of the inter-professional team you will provide group and individual therapeutic interventions as well as actively engage in interdisciplinary and cross-program collaboration. In this fast-paced environment, you will be expected to utilize critical thinking, and a solution focused customer service approach to direct client care. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; participate in clinical supervision; and provide education support and supervision to students. You will actively participate and support the research activities of the program, and engage in research training to achieve competence in this area. Your skills include the ability to make behavioural observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitoring patient’s response to pharmaceutical and care interventions, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members. You will have sound knowledge of pain assessment and management modalities, crisis intervention, addiction nursing, concurrent disorders, group facilitation, recovery oriented care, and trauma-informed care. Your strengths will include an ability to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate inter-professional client-centered care plans within an addiction medicine framework.
