Be a part of a team of Project Managers, Engineers, Contract Administrators, Designers, Inspectors, and other staff as required. Proficiency in reading and interpreting contract requirements, including contractor / client negotiations. Help manage contractors perform the work in line with the contract requirements. Monitor the construction contractor's safety program and provide verification of the contractor's fulfillment of contractual obligations regarding safety. Facilitate construction management meetings between Contractors, the Owner, Engineering, and other key stakeholders. Provide the Project Manager with key details from these meetings identifying any construction risks and issues. What You Bring to the Team: Post-secondary school education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines; or acceptable combination of education and previous experience. A minimum of 3-5 years working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, ideally in project engineering or heavy civil construction environment. Experience working with joint venture partnerships is an asset. Knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawing & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the project. WSP Earth & Environmental Applied Solutions team (EEAS) is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer to join its Calgary, AB or Winnipeg, MB based team.The practice of construction engineering is the engineering of "How-to" and then the technical support and delivery of that "How-to" in practical terms in construction projects across Canada.The role involves working as part of a team of construction engineering professionals working across Canada with projects nationally as well as overseas. We develop detailed designs and specifications and provide contract administration, contract management and general contracting services for a very diverse clientele. Performing construction site reconnaissance, inspections, and observations; Carrying out fieldwork, directing fieldwork operations for subsurface investigations including layout, supervising drill rigs and/or excavators, logging boreholes and test pits, site surveying to determine elevations at specific locations, sampling soil and groundwater, and preparing of detailed site sketches; Using specialized equipment and analytical software to prepare analyses, reports and technical drawings; Summarizing and analyzing findings from investigations and lab testing for report writing; and, Collaborating with and providing to other local and regionally based WSP teams including mining, coastal, civil, municipal, environmental, archaeology, and more.
