The Senior Cost Specialist / Engineer will be responsible for the fuel cell product cost estimates that form the foundation of the fuel cell stack and module product roadmap. The candidate will work both independently and as part of cross functional project teams to gather and synthesize data, generate cost models and estimates, define cost reduction alternatives, and present recommendations to decision makers, then follow through on the agreed implementation of authorized options. Submit for review and approval.  Design support to Projects and Minor Modifications associated with the NSS western waste management process. Provide technical and process support to field work, under Projects, Minor Modifications, and Work Order Holds, Address design related field issues. Leadership in initiatives that support improved current and long-term efficiencies and performance. Interface with external Design vendor partners.  Supporting day-to-day and emergent issues. Plan, coordinate and conduct engineering assessments, studies, inspections, investigations, designs, and evaluations systems. Perform field inspections, acceptance, and approvals. Maintain written processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems; Maintain process compliance during project execution. Support engineering acceptance of modification turnovers. Provide Engineering Change Control guidance, provide active support to field issues and Field Initiated Changes, and facilitate a positive outcome with EPC vendors. Understand impacts on cost and schedule and provide support to minimize impacts driving projects. Gather input from stakeholder departments and agencies to ensure project and modification requirements are captured and detailed in the project documents. Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and government agencies as required. Respond to emergencies, equipment failure, unsatisfactory equipment performance, conduct field investigations, prepare reports, and recommend actions. Develop plans, standards and technical procedures for inspection, maintenance, and monitoring programs.  EDUCATION 4-year university degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Control /Mechanical/Nuclear/Chemical Engineering.   Professional Engineer designation or Eligibility to become a Professional Engineer in Ontario an Asset.   QUALIFICATIONS Design experience required, preferably with OPG or Nuclear Industry. Experience with use of industry codes and standards. As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The Mechanical Quality Control Inspector will report directly to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for the performance of all quality functions and duties as related to the mechanical construction and equipment within their specific project. What Youll Do Here: Generate and maintain mechanical construction inspection and test plans using the correct codes and customer specifications. Complete all associated records to document the status and results of performed inspections. Understand and interpret technical drawings. Verify that material meets Purchase Order, Code, Standards requirements. Initiate non-conformance reports when required. Identify and segregating nonconforming items. Collaborate in the development and maintenance of project specific procedures and work instructions. Collaborate with management for interface on Quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others). Verify that calibrated equipment is used during the performance of inspection activities. Support with the preparation of History File or History Docket. Promote safety awareness including adhering to safety rules and requirements. Other activities as required by Management. What You Bring to the Table: Secondary school education in QA/QC or a related discipline. 1-3 years experience in mechanical field. W178 Level 2 Visual Weld inspection. ASME Code, B&PV plus Nuclear/ ISO 9001 and CWB experience Previous experience in receiving inspections and controls would be considered an asset. Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Proficiently with MS Office Suite. Understands design and construction requirements. Strong coordination and organization skills, with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, Alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
