The incumbant is to observe and comply with the Power Engineers Act for the Province of Manitoba.The incumbent will work closely with the Chief Engineer to provide support services to other maintenance personal as may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Overview: 1. Record in log book clearly and precisely, all happenings and information pertaining to the operation and progress of the plant, any abnormalities at the time of occurrence or when first noticed, and corrective action taken. 2. Manipulate valves to control the flow of water, fuel, steam, ect., for various operations. 3. Test boiler water and the usage of boiler water chemicals. 4. Perform maintenance in any part of the center on high pressure steam, chilled water, condensate lines, and compressed air systems. 5. Troubleshoot minor problems with industrial controls such as pneumatic, electric, or electronic. 6. Operates equipment in the plant. Regulates its output and performance safely and economically in a manner consistent with practices set forth by the Department of Labor and the Power Engineers Act.; 7. Reads and interprets basic diagrams, schematics and drawings of electric, electronic, and pneumatic controls and instruments for the purpose of understanding their operation as to be able to ascertain nature of any malfunctions and to make corrections and adjustments as necessary. 8. Perform routine operational system checks on equipment to ascertain its readiness. When in operation ensures that proper operating efficiency parameters are maintained at all operating loads. 9. Is responsible for chemical analysis on boiler, condenser water, chilled water, and ensures chemicals are added as per prescribed feed rates or as directed. Maintains complete, accurate, up to date water treatment logs and records. 10. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment. (e.g. piping, regulators, valves, pumps, controls, ect.). Checks and reports status of repairs on equipment as assigned. 11. Prepares boilers, tanks, and other equipment for inspection by opening manways, removing internals, and cleaning and flushing as may be necessary. 12. Ensures that all work areas, benches, counters and floors are kept clean, safe and orderly condition. Job assigned is not complete until area affected has been cleaned and tidied up. 13. Deals with emergency situations as they arise in the plant and or hospital. If incumbent is unable to cope with an emergency problem, it is his or her responsibility to call in people who are qualified to handle it. 14. Follows safety regulations in accordance with the Power Engineer’s Act, and the Steam and Pressure Plant Act for the province of Manitoba. 15. Must take extreme care in performance of tasks as in close contact with exposed high temperature piping, rotating equipment and high voltages. Will carry out preventative maintenance on all equipment as assigned. 20. Monitors and maintains oxygen concentrator so that a supply of oxygen is available at all times. 21. LINCS works with humanities and social science researchers across Canada to convert and link cultural datasets to create Linked Open Data for the Semantic Web, foregrounding difference, diversity, and the perspectives of the humanities from a wide range of disciplines. It is also makes available tools and interfaces for the creation and use of Linked Open Data. We are looking for a dynamic and creative individual to contribute to this national cyberinfrastructure project. The right candidate will be familiar with linked data standards, will be detail-oriented, will have excellent communication skills, and will be keen to make a difference in how cultural knowledge circulates online. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a critical infrastructure project aiming for high impact within and beyond the academy. Reporting to the LINCS technical manager, the Ontology and Metadata Specialist will build on existing patterns and policies to guide ontology work for the LINCS instructure.. This job is a full-time or part-time research scientist position for six (6), with the possibility of extension if funds permit. The position is flexible to the needs of the successful applicant. Job description/responsibilities: The LINCS Ontology and Metadata Specialist has responsibilities for managing the LINCS ontologies, aiding LINCS developers who are using these ontologies in their software development, and guiding researchers in data modelling and conversion. The Ontology and Metadata Specialist will: Support researchers creating linked data Work with LINCS researchers to model data in CIDOC CRM, consult on vocabulary requirements, document decisions in application profiles, converting data using X3ML Through the application of new and existing LINCS ontologies and vocabularies, facilitate interoperability between datasets Provide training related to linked data, including creating training materials for and teaching workshops, as time and inclination permit Manage LINCS ontologies, vocabularies, and metadata Coordinate the maintenance, application, and expansion as needed of LINCS’s ontologies and vocabularies Oversee documentation related to ontologies and vocabularies Support LINCS developers and infrastructure Oversee LINCS-hosted vocabularies, including monitoring, reviewing, and refining existing and new LINCS vocabularies across datasets, and collaborating with developers on exposing and leveraging vocabularies used in LINCS Implement validation and testing protocols and scripts for all aspects of ontology development and deployment With the support of the Project Manager and Technical Manager, consult with the LINCS developers doing data conversion to clarify ontology, vocabulary, and metadata requirements, and to ensure consistent use across those processes Contribute to the sustainability of LINCS Disseminate information about LINCS ontology work within Canada and internationally, as time and inclination permit Contribute to long-term strategic development and planning Qualifications and experience Required experience: Master’s degree in a relevant field, or 3 years of industrial experience using ontologies and other semantic technologies after an undergraduate degree in a relevant field Desired experience: Background in a humanities domain or experience working with humanities researchers Experience with Linked Open Data technologies and standards Experience with collaborative research, infrastructure, or software development projects involving multiple stakeholders and external partners Subject-specific knowledge: Familiarity with Linked Open Data conceptual and technical requirements Familiarity with ontologies, in particular CIDOC CRM, Web Annotation, and SKOS Familiarity with RDF serialization formats, in particular RDF/XML and TTL Awareness of current issues and trends in electronic resource management, metadata management, and cataloguing, and related technologies General skills: Excellent oral, visual, and written communications skills Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy Comfort with researching and learning new technologies Other Details: This position is expected to be 6 months full-time, or an equivalent number of hours on part-time schedule. Position SummaryThales is looking for an ILS Support/Technical Writer to conduct, coordinate and assist in the preparation, revision and support of all products in the AOPS and JSS Technical Data Packages to ensure that the data is accurate, complete and consistent across the support solution.Key Areas of Responsibility Prepare, author, and/or revise technical documents (CFTO/LSAR/EFT/Misc. Reports) as necessary to support improvements to the technical data package and support solution; Review products of the technical data package in collaboration with engineers to ensure that the technical data reflects the latest system/equipment configuration of the ships, is complete, accurate and consistent across the support solution; Coordinate the activities related to the verification of the final technical data package, track progress and report status; Analyze Document Change Requests and liaise with technical contributors as appropriate to address the request and prepare or coordinate the development of the Change Package to identify the technical data package changes and revisions; Implement the technical data package changes and revisions or collaborate with procurement personnel to contract out the implementation of the changes and revisions.
