Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders on licensing and permitting matters, providing expert advice and support throughout the project lifecycle. Manage the preparation and submission of license applications, safety assessments, and other regulatory documents, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants as needed. Conduct regulatory research and analysis to identify potential licensing issues, risks, and opportunities, and develop proactive strategies to address them. Review and interpret relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines, and standards related to nuclear safety, environmental protection, and land use planning. Build and mentor a team of licensing specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their technical capabilities and professional development. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, scientists, planners, and project managers, to integrate licensing requirements into project planning and execution. Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, public consultations, and regulatory hearings, representing clients and advocating for their interests in a professional and effective manner. Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in nuclear licensing and regulatory affairs, and apply this knowledge to enhance service delivery and client satisfaction. Ensure compliance with WSP's quality management system, health and safety policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of work. What you'll bring to WSP: Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, engineering, nuclear engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in nuclear licensing, regulatory compliance, and preferably in the nuclear industry or consulting environment. In-depth knowledge of federal regulations governing nuclear facilities, including the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) regulations and guidelines. Proven track record of successfully leading licensing efforts for nuclear projects, from initial concept through construction, operation, and decommissioning. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and resolve technical challenges. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including clients, regulators, and stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities, with a collaborative and inclusive approach to coaching and mentoring staff.
