The Branch is responsible for developing science-based strategic frameworks, standards, policies, legislation/regulation, and guidance for species and ecosystems and setting priorities for conservation and recovery of species and ecosystems that guide the Natural Resource Sector (NRS). The Branch also provides aquatic conservation science leadership with a team of scientists that specializes in improving our collective understanding on our province's species, biodiversity and ecosystems, their status, and threats including climate change, water use, invasive animal species and habitat change.This position provides conservation science expertise focusing on aquatic species of conservation concern. The incumbent will work with provincial government partners, as well as partners from other governments (federal, First Nation and others as appropriate) on recovery-focused applied science, species/population assessments and advice to decision makers to support the conservation of aquatic species at risk and ecosystems of concern.
