D6 Unit Profile D6 a 36-bed unit is an integral part of the Odette Cancer Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The main focus of the unit is caring for surgical oncology patients. Summary of Duties The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice role designed to contribute to the quality of patient care through practice, research and education. The NP promotes wellness and health promotion and provides exemplary quality care through the application of advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge and skills. The NP practices in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision and Values of Sunnybrook and in compliance with the professional standards of nursing practice as defined by the hospital and College of Nurses of Ontario. The current emphasis of this role is direct patient care, including the daily clinical management of a defined group of cardiology patients and the coordination of interdisciplinary patient care on D3. In addition, the Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the Patient Care Manager, Clinical Educator and Advanced Practice Nurse to enhance nursing practice through the development, implementation and evaluation of best practices.
