Summary of Duties K2W is a complex / transitional care unit within the Veterans Centre. RPNs are responsible for the total care of a group of residents within a primary nursing care delivery model within their scope of practice and responsible for the total care which includes personal care (ADL’s) of patients. Summary of Duties K1W is a complex / transitional care unit within the Veterans Centre. RPNs are responsible for the total care of a group of residents within a primary nursing care delivery model within their scope of practice and responsible for the total care which includes personal care (ADL’s) of patients. The successful candidate will have experience working with a wide variety of medical needs of community patients. This would include Dialysis, Dementia, Palliation, TBI, Oncological, complex medical needs. The RPN works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.   Qualifications/Skills Current Ontario College of Nurses Registration required. Current BCLS certification required. RPN Diploma or equivalent Minimum of one year geriatric nursing experience is required. Keen interest in working with the elderly. Oncology experience preferred (chemotherapy). Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) or PIECES certification considered an asset. Palliative care experience preferred. Patient and family focused care philosophy required. Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills required. This includes strong communication skills with the multidisciplinary team, patient family members and/or primary care givers. Strong physical assessment skills required. Experience with primary nursing an asset. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. Airway Management (Tracheostomy, CPAP, BiPAP) Central Venous Catheters (CVC) e.g. Hickman, PICC Demonstrated commitment to person centred care approach and principles.

Summary of Duties The Odette Cancer Centre is an ambulatory care facility dedicated to the treatment and support of outpatient cancer patients and their families. Large volumes of patients flow through the centre on a daily basis for clinical assessment, radiation, chemotherapy, minor surgery, diagnostic &/or therapeutic procedures.  The clinic supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of assigned clinics and disease site groups within the ambulatory clinics. Duties include, but are not limited to: monitoring the clinic environment (eg. equipment, supplies, IT systems), ensuring patient safety & mitigating risk through enforcement of  policies & procedures, managing human resource requirements and performance-related  issues, ongoing recruitment & retention of staff, conducting performance reviews, addressing patient & family concerns, operationalization of centre-wide quality improvement initiatives with ongoing monitoring & evaluation, day-to-day staffing, program planning, development, implementation, & evaluation, facilitating professional development, chairing of site-based team meetings, and organizational meeting participation. Creating a supportive environment for patients and their families through the daily management of appropriate staffing levels, clinic processes, and facilitating interprofessional communication is of utmost importance to this role. The clinic supervisor for ambulatory clinics is critical to the successful operations of the Odette Cancer Centre.   Qualifications/Skills Bachelor’s Degree required; BScN preferred College of Nurses of Ontario certificate of competence required 3-5 years  acute care clinical experience; oncology experience preferred Recent relevant supervisory or leadership experience in health care Superior organizational, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills Demonstrated coaching and an empowering style of management Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient centred care, including shared governance and inter-professional care teams Ability to follow through on key initiatives and meet targeted deadlines and deliverables Excellent change agent skills Excellent oral and written communication skills
